October 2022
Dear Church Family, This Fall our church will embark on a journey to explore who Westminster Presbyterian Church is and who Westminster wants to be. Starting October 23rd, we will have a 4-part worship series focusing on Worship, Outreach, Mission and Spirituality. After each worship service, there will be a 10 to 15 minute gathering where members can brainstorm and share ideas, hopes and visions for what the church would like to do in these four aspects of church life. Our stewardship campaign will culminate on Sunday November 20th when we bless and dedicate our 2023 pledges and have a celebration in Fellowship Hall afterwards. WPC is alive and well. There is much that we are doing as a vital part of our communities. In addition to meaningful worship services each Sunday with engaging music that is provided in-person and worldwide through the internet, we reach out to our communities through our annual ice cream social, music programs and various mission and support projects. We hold services to bless animals. We recently celebrated our 90th Anniversary! However, there is probably more that the church wants to do. These brainstorming sessions during our stewardship season will be a chance to share and hear what our church would like to do better. Everyone knows that the past couple of years have been difficult. And now, after all that we have been through, the economy is uncertain and inflation has returned. All of us fall victim to these troubles, including our church. Even though we readily feel these circumstances in our households, we need to remember that they hit WPC just as hard. Accordingly, Carol and I have decided to increase our 2023 pledge to Westminster Presbyterian Church by 10% over last year's pledge. I encourage you to prayerfully consider doing the same. Please prayerfully consider making a pledge for 2023; and if you have pledged in previous years, please consider increasing your pledge for 2023. We are blessed to has WPC in our lives. WPC too is blessed with resources and volunteers who accomplish its ministries and missions. When considering your pledge for 2023, keep in mind that WPC is blessed, once again, to have a generous anonymous donor offering to match all new and increased pledges for 2023. Listen to the Spirit as it leads you towards financial generosity. Together we can be a church that honors God and spreads love throughout our communities. Thank you and Blessings to you, Ed Pillsbury, Finance & Stewardship Committee P.S. Be sure to mark your calendar for this exciting worship series. |
