WESTMINSTER PRESBYTERIAN SUPPORTS THE MISSION OF
THE SPRINGBOARD COLLABORATIVE
On Sunday, April 23, Westminster Presbyterian (WPC) had the pleasure of hosting a luncheon to learn more about The Springboard Collaborative (TSC) non-profit organization’s mission. We also heard the personal story of one of the residents of the Georgetown Pallet Village (GPV), which The Springboard Collaborative sponsors.
Trish Hill, TSC’s project manager, stated that their mission is to build affordable pallet home communities that bring homeless Delawareans out of tent encampments. Georgetown Pallet Village is a clean, safe and nurturing community environment. Residents there have access to resources and structured goal setting programs that, coupled with self-determination, can lead to self-sufficiency. Currently, 40 pallet homes are occupied. The village is clean, tidy and thriving!
GPV resident, Freddy Carswell, shared his journey from a youthful, stubborn attitude of not listening to good advice in the past to now recognizing that God’s love for him is the gift of salvation. Freddy’s message summary to us was two-fold: “You have to forgive yourself and others” and “Never give up on yourself, keep the faith!”
The Westminster congregation is currently supporting the GPV through snack and towel donations until the end of May. In the meantime, WPC’s Mission-Outreach Committee is seeking new ways to deepen our relationship with our brothers and sisters at GPV. Stay tuned for more Good News to come!
